Great Lakes Region favorite - Blackrocks, Marquette, Michigan

My name is Erin – author of the Great Lakes Mindset blog and lifelong resident of the Great Lakes region. I have traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada, including visits to 46 states, 27 national parks, forests, monuments, mountains, and coastlines. Through my travels, I have learned to appreciate the wealth of beauty throughout the country, and also my love for the Great Lakes region. I am proud to call this beautiful area home!

Professionally, I have taught Environmental Science, Geology and Geography for 20+ years. I am always in search of a new adventure. Lake Superior, known in the Ojibwe language as Gichigami, or Gitche Gumee, keeps me in constant awe. It is my lifelong mission to protect the Great Lakes ecosystem.

On the personal side, I am an avid runner, hiker, biker, skier, and photographer. I am a true rock hound and love to comb beaches for unique treasures, fossils, and beach glass. There is nothing like the tranquility of a quiet beach or the dynamic sound of crashing waves.
